Remembering Jesus Christ is the Reason for Christmas |
At the time when we should be basking in the knowledge that Jesus Christ was born at Christmas it seems that we forget what the season is all about. I know that I am guilty of this and I think if we were all honest with ourselves we would admit that we are all guilty.
The spirit of Christmas should be in our hearts and minds so strong that we can not think of anything else. I love the giving and receiving of gifts as good as anyone but the greatest gift of all is so many times put on the back burner. God sent his only son to earth knowing that he would die on the cross for all of our sins. He lived here on earth as one of us and still knew no sin. I can not seem to go ten minutes without sin coming into my life.
He came as a baby...born of a virgin. He was not born in a fancy hospital with all the care that infants have now. He was born in a stable with the animals surrounding him and his parents. His was a humble birth that none of us could compare with. As he grew he was about his father's business. He knew that his time here would be short and he had much to do. We also should think about this fact and be about our father's business also.
I am so thankful that he was born, lived and died so that we might have eternal life. I have not been living as close to him as I need to be and I want to make that my Christmas gift to myself.....to live, to walk and to be closer to him. What better gift could I have?
Stop this wonderful Christmas day and ask yourself this question...are you serving him like you should be? I have been honest enough to say no I have not. I pray that you are, but if not what better gift could you give to him in return for his gift to us. It is my prayer that we will all strive harder to make Christ the most important thing about Christmas and lets make Christmas 365 days of the year.
May God bless you on this most glorious Holiday that marks the birth of Jesus Christ our Lord.
